The ADA Seal

Posted .

The time has come for you to replace your toothbrush or to buy new toothpaste. Going to the store to buy these products can be intimidating because there are so many options. There is an entire shelf, or maybe even wall, of dental product options. Which one should you choose? How do you know that the product you choose does what it promises? That is where the ADA seal can be very helpful.

What Is the American Dental Association (ADA)?
The American Dental Association is the oldest and largest dental society in the world. Since its formation in 1859, the ADA has grown to include more than 156,000 dentists. There are ADA members in every state and Puerto Rico. Dental health has come a long way since the ADA was founded. Our country was plagued with bad teeth at the time, and many people lost all of their teeth by the age of 40. The ADA provides the public with information about oral health care through radio commercials, brochures, and the internet.

What Does the ADA Seal Indicate?
The American Dental Association created the ADA Seal of Acceptance in 1931 to help protect consumers from unsafe products and false advertising. When you see the ADA Seal, you can be sure that you are buying a product that has been tested and evaluated for effectiveness and safety.
